happy little shoppe

Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of one day owning my very own little shoppe. {And yes...I prefer this spelling --- it just looks happier with an extra "p" and an "e"}.

There is just something special about having your own little nook in the retail world whether in mortar & stone or online. In fact, I would vividly daydream about it with one of my childhood friends. We envisioned a store that was divided into a flower shoppe on one side and a bakery on the other. We planned {or maybe I had planned} on calling it Flourpetals.

I still yearn for a little shoppe of my own...and one day I think it will happen. I dream big but I also live large.

I have collected tidbits here and there of the atmosphere I would create if given an actual store:

Love this color scheme. Hmmm...neutral. Who would have thoughtI would be attracted to that?

I love cubbies and apothecary bottles. Oh and hello there lovely chanderlier from
Pottery Barn. The interest you bring to the space enrichs the experience even more.

Gorgeous product in perfect aligment. My OCD-ness as a  pharmacist is coming out, but
all the same I find this sheer bliss.

This little shoppe actually gave me some inspiration outside the divine design scheme...even with all its loveliness -- it inspired me.

It made me think about products. What draws us to certain products? It is the prospect of the lifestyle it hints at? Does it whisper to the heart -- make me yours? What is it that makes you purchase something? For me...I shop with the heart and only buy what I love.

It made me think about artisans/craftsmen. It made me think about empowerment. It made me think otside the box.

Ok...so where am I going with this?

I think I am in the midst of answering that question.

More important...what is your hidden passion or secret? I think 2012 is all about inching closer to finding serendipity.

Cheers~

you can never have too many pillows

I have an affinity for pillows. I love how delicately they can transform a room. I finessed this little microsuede pillow made by my friend (Trisha Lou) with a hand cut desaturated grey flower in microsuede and crowned it with an essence of pearl.

Maybe I can scrape together a few more go in my little etsy shoppe too. This one has found a home in my office...and this little blossom is tempting me to change a design plan that I thought was already fixed. Hmm..I love dreaming the possibilites. What do you think?

(Bare with me...I only have nighttime pictures..the life of a mom, wife, & student.)

And just to keep it REAL within my little world (on the other side of the room)....this is how I spend most of my nights from 8 to midnight. Studying...

(Atticus, my ever present study buddy and camera hog)

no longer married to a younger man

Mr. B does not celebrate birthdays, at least not like I do…but they are growing on him. He doesn’t want me to ever make a fuss or broadcast it so in that respect posting this 2 days AFTER his actual date of birth can in no way be linked to celebrating his birth.

How I love this man.

This is one of my favorite pictures of him

From the very first day of grad school when I saw him sitting there dead center in the front row, I DISTINCTLY remember saying to myself, “Now THAT is going to be trouble.”

This is a scanned film photo of us during our 3rd week of class right after we had a HUGE debate in our ethics class. Everyone in our class thought we either hated each other or were madly in love. Hehe!

To saying I do

I have never felt my heart so full till…

I saw him hold our son in his arms and become more than a man, but a daddy.

Within our little family of three, I have found those little moments that I get to witness between him and Thurgood make our yesterdays so very sweet and our tomorrows so very promising.

From our recent snow storm, Thurgood and Mr. B had to play snowball

Happy Birthday my love! I have loved every step of our dance together.

Cheers~

the nester makes me swoon

I am taking part in my first giveaway!

No..I am not giving anything away (just yet), I have a much anticipated event for that special time (so stay tuned). But, I am participating in the Nester's giveaway in conjunction with DaySpring-Danielson Design Studio.

I decided to take a much study break (aren't they all?) and see what I could come up:

This is the name of my little etsy shop that I am trying to breath new life into. I thought this little artifact would re-inspire me and re-invent my vision for my happy little shoppe.

Of course, if I win...I might opt for a personalized sign for my little boy. His name is quite magnificant and quite unique.

Here is to participation in my first giveaway and a linky party. :)

Cheers~
