and the verdict???

I am now the proud owner of....

NOTHING!

Haha...my friend Trisha Lou and I stopped by the thrift store after school (with cash in hand). We walked into the store and they were gone! All that was left was their space where they once were.

I know most of you might be saying I should have bought them...but I guess it was not meant to be.

The irony??? Someone purchased them this morning at 11 am. I called the lady upon returning home to see if they had actually been sold or were being held. She informed me that the twins were purchased THAT morning.

But...

She did go on to say that she thought she had noticed some possible mold on the underside of the chairs from moisture. She had me at MOLD! (even though she might have just been saying that to ease my loss)

Oh well...it has caused me to revisit my inspirations.

Have you met my friend Kelly from Much To Do With Nothing? Her talent is inspiring. She can take this $10 chair:

And create perfection...down to the ever so perfect pleated ruffle.

I would ADORE ties like this on any chair:

And she purchased 4 of these chairs for $25....look at these fraternal twins:

Am I disappointed? Maybe a tad from the sheer fact they were sold today AND that Mr. B was going to get them for me as a Mother's Day gift.

And yes...I rushed home ASAP to see if he had been sneaky and nabbed them as a surprise. Only upon coming home did I realize I never told him the store the twins were at. :)

But aside from this, I think there is something better out there waiting for our little master bedroom.

You will just have to wait with me till I find them.....or they find me.

Cheers~

  1. ohhh darn! so sorry. I guess it wasn't meant to be. I hadn't thought that maybe mr b might have gotten them until you mentioned it. I'm a hopeless romantic, so I can't help but hope that just maybe. . . . :)

  2. Hate it when that happens... but you have to "let it go". You're right, something even better will come up in time.

  3. I can't believe you wait a month! I give myself about a week but a month, wow that's self control! But like you said there must be something better out there for your house and I am sure that is true, and I'm not just saying that : )

  4. I am a hopeless romantic too...:)

Sidenote: My 1 month timeline comes from being in pharmacy school and being extra tight on the purse strings. I have no regrets though...I firmly believe in the concept "if it what meant to be...."

I have such great and supportive readers/friends.

    Cheers~

  6. Oh, I totally agree with you! I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. I see it all the time. You have your heart set on something, it doesn't work out, you think there's no way anything else could possibly better, and then out of nowhere, something comes along that is so much more perfect for you.

I can't wait for the day that you post on your blog about your unbelievably gorgeous chairs that are beyong anything you could have imagined! You have too much good karma to not have it coming your way. :)

  7. Hi e,
Those were 2 gorgeous chairs. I believe in fate too. You weren't meant to get them. Thank you for mentioning me. I'm glad I could inspire you. I was in my thrift store the other day and they had ALL chairs for $5.00 just to get rid of some of them. They were selling them for so much, nobody would buy them. So there they were, about 20 of them. I bought 2. One is armless and already slipcovered. I thought of you that day. Some would have fit your PB inspiration look.

  13. Bummer!! I had a similar episode recently with a beautiful glider for only $9.99 at our local thrift. Why didn't I grab it for such a bargain? Oh, something to do with the free chair that I grabbed from beside the dumpster before I went into the store, and a bargain sewing machine. Sigh. But the glider was just so perfect, I even told my husband about it! Don't worry, there is another piece of furniture, or two, that are destined for your bedroom. Happy hunting!!

And thanks for your compliments on the necklace!! I couldn't be happier with it, and it is consoling me from a few makeover fails that I've had in the last month. :)
