green with envy

I came across this picture and was instantly smitten with this collection.

The pottery is called Floraline.

Floraline Pottery was first produced by McCoy in the 1940's and then again in the 1960's as Roseville Floraline. It was sold exclusively to retail florists in the 60's. The green varies with each piece from white to forest green to olive. You can find several pieces on ebay and at antique stores. I just LOVED the muted color and the lovely lines.

So while browsing at my favorite Salvation Army during my lunch break..I came across..

Hello little one.

Oh hello $1.99! What Miss Clerk? Anything ending in 99 is 1/2 off? Even better.

So the next question is what to do with my budding new collection. I am playing with a few ideas. I think this green oozes with Spring charm for a darling display. Maybe adding a few more pieces will help me find the right home for them. Afterall that 1st picture with all of those Floraline pieces...heavenly.

I have been thinking of our little bar area. Maybe I will try something new. Unlike a lot of bloggers, once I find a home for something...it stays for a while. It is rare you find me mixing it up. But hey...that is how I roll.

Our little bar shelves home our liquor. We find that the ones we rarely use end up top. The second shelf is my water shelf. I have no idea, but these bottles of water make me happy {and remind me of my honeymoon in Rome}. Plus you can see the left side is Mr. B's man station. And the far right...my chapstick always seems to end up there {away from the little boy and kitty}.

Here is what the area looks like from the side.

Beneath the shelves, we have PB look-a-like cabinets that house our wines...both bottled and empty.
{I am saving them for you Gail.}

Hmm...where to put my little collection of one. I guess I will wait till I have three and go from there. I am open to thoughts.

Cheers~

  1. Great SA find! I like your style. I, too, have a collection of Pellegrino bottles on display in my kitchen and a few in my dining room. We have quite a bit in common :)

  2. Gotta love such a treasure for such a great price. I use a small white container (similar shape) to hold my sugar/sweetnlow packets. It would look great anywhere, on a desk, bedside table, bathroom. I love the bar area. Looks adorable!

  5. Yeah..the bar area is quite cute. Mr. B is VERY hesitant to change it because we always get liquor as gifts...hmmm...this makes us sound like lushes. :) Anywho...we shall see. He says that I need hold off before I mess with his man space. Oh...that sounds even worse. :)

    Cheers~

  6. I hope your collection ends up just a big and beautiful and in the first photo. I have several "collections" started that I need to work on as well...

  7. I, too, don't move things around too often. Once they are in place, they're there! This green color is beautiful. Can't wait to see where you find a home for your new finds!

  8. Well if those gorgeous pieces don't have your name written all over them, then I don't know what does. What a lucky find and I'm certain your collection is meant to be now. I think a nice sized collection would look great on the cabinets below the bar area and allow you to leave the man space as is.

Oh yeah & you can count on me for Blissdom 12. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

  10. I found your blog a few weeks ago and love it! I'm just now getting really into (obsessed with) DIY/Home deocr. So anyway, I was browsing ebay last night and found this. Thought it might be something you're interested in.

  11. I started collecting olive floraline in about 2000 and now have over 50 pieces...it is a wonderful collection because (1) they're so beautiful - great proportions & lines and (2) still very affordable (I've never paid more than $20). I think they may well become the Roseville of the future...good luck in your search!
