Is it for something you have yet to define?
I look for all and then some. What I seem to have noticed though is the lack of connection....the funny thing is it is not with you. Those of you that peek into my world day to day, I hope you feel connected to me because I feel so very connected to you.
Side note: This reminds me of parent-teacher conferences. The parents you want to talk to never show, and the parents that do show....you don't really need to talk to.
Lately I find myself curious as to why people "follow" blogs when the connection is missing.
I can't help but think I am back in high school. I am the awkward freshman that wants that popular senior girl to notice me. You know the feeling...you see the senior girl and tell her how cute her shoes are or how you like her bracelet just in hopes of being noticed.
Even though I am just a freshman, I do have some lovely friendships with some freshmen like me as well as upperclassmen. :)
So I was thinking of having a sleepover party with all my friends.
Link up your blog to my little sleepover party and meet my friends...and make a connection. I am sure you will be more than inspired by these fabulous people.
If you don't have a blog...feel free to link up a favorite of yours that is still a freshman when it comes to blogging. Oh..and get the word out! Every party is more fun when lots of people come. :)

You read my mind!
ReplyDeleteVery thought provoking. I was never popular in HS and it didn't really bother me. Even now when I see some of the "peeps" they act like they don't know me, that's okay. I don't need them. I've always been a "blend in" kinda girl.
ReplyDeletestay warm!
Love the concentration on t's face with the cookies. so darn cute!

I love it all too. But,honestly I think it can be summed up in one thing for me. Someone blogged about it yesterday in fact(Kristin from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia). She was asking if we like blogs b/c we like to peek/snoop into peoples lives/homes. Thats totally me. Ive always loved seeing the inside of peoples homes and blogging allows me to do that to some of the most talented decorators out there.
ReplyDeleteFor example, I LOVE your home! I could move right in(or steal all of your furniture, haha). Its what I love most about blogging, linky parties,etc... The friendships and connections along the way just make it that much sweeter for me:)
Have a great week!
I'm a friend! I'm a friend! I'm so linking up. I think I follow blogs first for inspiration for sure. It doesn't have to always be design inspiration though. Sometimes I just like certain people's outlook on life, or writing style, or whatever. Who are we kidding? I like to snoop too!
ReplyDeleteHow cute are you with the sleepover idea! I will check back to visit the other girls when I get the chance.
ReplyDeleteI totally get the freshman-senior reference. I've been blogging for almost three years and I'm still a freshman...does that mean I was held back for two? :D
Thank you Gail for giving this freshman a "ride" to the right Linky code. This is why you are Junior Prom Queen. I adore you so much!
ReplyDeleteCheers~

Such good questions to ponder girl! I go to blogs for inspiration, connection AND the undefinable :). I so wish I had more time in my life to focus on visiting and REALLY following others, but I don't. Somedays I feel like it's all I can do to do a project, post, and answer emails. Blogging is a tremendously rewarding hobby but it's so time consuming!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful and you are beautiful inside and out. Thanks for focusing on connections!
I blog to push my creativity...life took my creativity away for a long time and I so missed it...so now I get inspiration from so many places and I like to snoop into other homes also!!!
ReplyDeleteI've found blogging is like life, taking it slow and easy is my "style" and that suits me...others jump in with all they've got...but they're generally the ones that disappear quickly also!!!
Oh my gosh! What a great idea!! I usually look for inspiration and fun. I guess I hadn't really thought about the "connection" part; now that I think of it, some of my favorites DO offer a glimpse of their family, friends, what makes them happy, etc. Thanks for the great party!!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I like you so much. You are so endearing and real. Love it and you! : )
ReplyDeletee-- you make me smile! :)

sleepover idea is so cute. i was just talking about this with another blogger-i am definitely a snooper, but i comment up a storm. which to me is different than just a lurker.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you know I love a good sleep over and with great friends, what have you got to lose?
ReplyDelete(Um, I added two links, by accident. Sorry)
I'm so glad you did this and excited to meet some new friends.
I blog for a few reasons and connecting is certainly a major part for me. Part of my blog is letters, pictures & memories for my kids that I will turn in to published books one day so they can look back and remember all the fun we had together. (better get to hopping on those posts, seems like I am always about 6 months behind). Part of my blog is my way of conversing with grown ups. Being home alone with 3 kids ages 4 & under all day can take its toll, some days I just need some good old fashioned girl talk. Since moving to a new city, I haven't made many real life connections so many of my blog friends are my BEST friends.
I'm not even sure where to start. "Thoughtfully blended hearts" said it well. I too blog to fill my creative need. Don't get me wrong, staying home with two boys keeps me on my creative toes but it's not the same.
ReplyDeleteI have actually been shocked by how connected I have/can become to other people just through blogging.
To answer your question though: I follow for inspiration, writing style, decor style, and staying in the know.

Hello sweetie!!!!!!! Thank you so much for becoming a follower of my blog!!! Connecton is key for me!! I hate it when my favorite blogs tell me what the current "trend" is, since I don't follow trends, I follow my heart! I would LOVE to be a part of your linky party but are there certain requirements? I don't want to break the rules! lol So far, I'm loving your style!!!!!
ReplyDeleteps. my oldest is 19, my middle one is 15, my youngest is 8 and I'm ALWAYS the Mom that the teacher doesn't need to talk to. I feel your pain!!!!!
Dagnabbit, how did I miss this? What a fun idea! You rock, M. You are totally the captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, am all about the connections I've made via my blog. My most consistent commenters are people I've never met, and it means so much to me that they come back again and again. I know that if for some reason I quit blogging (unlikely!), they would truly, deeply miss me. And for that, I'm grateful. You've said in very few words what it would have taken me many more to say ... great job! Now I'm off to explore your blog ...
