the litter box is in my shower

When you come into my home...you can tell I majored in theatre. I give the best impression of being organized..but it is all an illusion. I just know how to hide, stash, or squirrel away anything and everything.
{Mr. B does tease me for having chipmunk cheeks when I chew..must be in my DNA to stash.}

just open a drawer

or open a cabinet

or if you dare...open the pantry door
Please note not every drawer or cabinet looks like this, but more than I wish did.
I tend to blame pharmacy school for the mass exodus of organization in my home..especially with my crazy hours. I leave my house by 6:30 am and get home around 6 pm. Organization takes time and I find that so precious.

Everyone takes on something in the new year. Mr. B is so cliche by eating healthy & exercising {hehe..but it is fun to watch him work out.} I have opted to clean a drawer or cabinet..once a week..just 1 and only 1 a week.

Yep..I forgot to take a before, but just imagine a hot mess....now check out my drawers {hehe}.

What was a disaster now houses our phone books, my too long kitchen papers {wax, contact, etc}, & my mail to be sorted for the week...I love that I can place it here instead of piling it up on the corner of my counter.
Baby steps...but steps in the right direction no less. And yes, I keep the litter box in the hallway bathroom shower. It makes it so easy to clean any runaway litter glitter {and we don't ever use that shower}. Judge me...but I think it is brilliant for keeping the litter glitter contained, easy to clean, and out of sight.

Ok your turn...who wants to show me their drawers? :)

Cheers~

  1. I just organized my kitchen drawer that houses all my use once in a while utensils. I placed them together by use. Looks so nice. One of my favorite things in the world right now are lazy susans. I have three of them in my pantry and they keep oils, spices, etc all together. Give it a spin and everything is within reach. Bed Bath and Beyond has the best quality and sizes.

  2. How much do I love the term "litter glitter"? I'm with you on the organizing. I had a few panic attacks about my mess right after Christmas and I've been filling up a whole black garbage bag of junk to throw out every day. But it's working!

  3. I have way too much clutter, in drawers and just in general. My goal is to get control of it. So far, I'm a little behind with that goal. Glad you're working on it. :)

  5. Joi - you make me sound like such a tease. :)

Actually about this time last year, I had to let go of my OCD craze on the house if I wanted to do well in school AND stay married. :) I just didn't have the time, the money to hire a maid, or the energy....it was a very hard to let go of my need to always organize, but I can feel it slowly creeping back in.

And...I see a lazy susan in my future. :)

    Cheers~

  7. Yep, my "drawers" looked like that too until Sunday when I went on my wild hair organizing kick. Have you seen my latest plan to do Operation Minimize again this year? Keep track of all the stuff your throwing out, you'd be surprised how quickly it adds up.

Took my first trip to the Container Store today :) Now, I'm not so scared to put my drawers on display :) I'll show you soon .. promise

  9. Haha....I wouldnt have time to show you all the current messes here but today has been one of my days to cleanout. Im selling off a ton of unused Pampered Chef products from my days as a consultant! I sent out a mass email and people are buyin up all the goods that have been taking up space in my cabinet and drawers...and Im making some cash to set aside for all the crap thats breaking around here(dishwasher, dryer,etc...)

  10. Oh, yeah...not a drama major, but you wouldn't want to look behind closed doors (or drawers) chez nous! You're so very brave for baring yours...

  13. Great post...I'm so right there with you on this one! I've started ripping apart the house in a post-Christmas madness...but have a long ways to go!

  14. Shoot! I thought I commented on this already and I was wrong. NICE WORK! Way to get organized. I am the exact same way {stash wherever possible} and my husband complains about it all the time. Must do better...

  15. Right there with you, both about the insides of most of my cabinets, and about keeping the litterbox in the guest shower!

  16. I don't! Well, maybe I will. You should see our room...that is the room that needs major help, I just need to get my butt in there and do it! Thanks for the inspiration!

  17. I am just like this! Oh, and I really enjoy my white slipcovers, but I am going to make some arm covers for them. You know, the kind of things that come with recliners and grandma's old sofa? I wash the covers about every 1 to 2 months, and it is no big deal to wash the cushion covers, but I HATE having to wash the big one over the frame of the couch- which is why I'm going to make covers for the arms so the arms won't get dirty. We also don't eat meals or anything on it, just the occasional snack. However, we have had some pretty narly accidents on it and it has come out fine. I like the whitener you can buy with the fabric dye on the laundry aisle. Great stuff.
